Fukuroda village, which was later called Katsuyama, was located where the Kuzuryu River and Katsuyama highway adjoin. Katsuyasu Shibata built a castle in Fukuroda and made the base of the castle town. Katsuyama castle and samurai residences were built above Shichirikabe, while town houses and temples were built below it. Inside the castle town of Katsuyama remain many streets centering around two main streets running in parallel with Shichirikabe.
