The Kuzuryu River rises at the foot of Hakusan mountain range and flows to the Japan Sea in Mikuni by gathering tributary rivers. The river terrace of the Kuzuryu River that was created as a result of hundreds of thousands of years of topographical change is called Shichirikabe, which adds unique landscape to the castle town of Katsuyama. Abundant water from the Kuzuryu River has fertilized paddy field and has been utilized not only as daily life water for local residents but also as the moat water of Katsuyama castle.
